Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Blue Pine Holdings LLC, doing business as Beak School ("Beak School", "we", "us", or "the Company"), operates the website beakschool.com and the products and services offered through it, including the member area, courses and course videos, the member community known as The Flock, live group calls and Q&A sessions, the Trainer Hub (our trainer directory, trainer profiles, messaging, bookings and packages), the Adoption Center, the affiliate program, and our email communications (together, the "Site").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors, free subscribers, paying members, bird owners who use the Trainer Hub, trainers, affiliates, and people listed in our directory. Please also read our Terms of Use, our Directory Terms, our Trainer Program Agreement (for trainers) and our Affiliate Terms (for affiliates), which govern your use of the Site.

Contact for privacy questions and requests: BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com, or Blue Pine Holdings LLC, 322 Dogwood Village Rd, Salina, OK 74365, United States.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

  1. Account information: your name or display name, email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), profile photo, and account preferences.
  2. Bird profiles: the names, species, ages, photos, and behavior notes you choose to add about your birds.
  3. Community content: posts, comments, reactions, photos, videos, and direct messages you submit inside The Flock.
  4. Quiz and assessment answers: the responses you give in our quizzes, readiness assessments and the Trainer Hub match questions, and the email address you use to receive your result or matches.
  5. Purchase and billing records: what you bought, when, the amount, currency, subscription status, refund and dispute history, and the last four digits and card brand as reported back to us by our payment processor. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
  6. Booking details: the dates, times, time zone, the trainer you booked, the session or package you chose, and the goals, questions and intake answers you submit when you book.
  7. Messages: the messages you send to and receive from trainers or bird owners through the Trainer Hub.
  8. Reviews: the star rating and written review you leave for a trainer after a completed session.
  9. Trainer information (if you are a trainer): your name, business name, photo, headline, bio, training approach, city, state and country, languages, years of experience, species and behaviors you work with, credentials, optional certification documents, intro video and gallery, offers and prices, availability, cancellation policy, and the trainer agreement version you accepted.
  10. Payout and tax information (if you are a trainer or affiliate): the payout method you connect (Stripe or PayPal), your payout email or account reference, and any tax form we are required to collect, such as a Form W-9 for United States payees.
  11. Support and correspondence: the messages, attachments, and contact details you send us by email or through in app support.

Information we collect automatically:

  1. Device and log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, and timestamps, recorded by the standard operation of our servers.
  2. Usage data: which courses, lessons, and videos you open, your lesson progress and completion, and feature usage inside the member area.
  3. Trainer Hub activity: searches, filters, profile views, saves and button clicks, recorded with a random session identifier so we can improve the Trainer Hub and show trainers how many people viewed their profile. We show trainers totals only, never who you are.
  4. Email engagement: whether an email we sent was delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, or unsubscribed.
  5. Referral data: if you arrive through an affiliate link, the referral code and the date, so we can credit the affiliate.
  6. Cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 12.
  7. Checkout reminders: if you type your email address at checkout and do not finish, we save it with a random browser identifier so we can send you a reminder about your order. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.

Information from third parties and public sources:

  1. Our payment processors tell us the outcome of your payment, subscription, refund, or dispute, and whether a trainer's payout account is ready.
  2. Our email provider tells us delivery and engagement results.
  3. If you sign in with a third party login such as Google, that provider tells us your name, email address, and profile image.
  4. Directory listings: to build our trainer directory, we collect business information that trainers and training businesses have made publicly available, such as their public website, public professional directories and public credential rosters. See Section 5.

We do not intentionally collect special category data such as health, biometric, racial, religious, or precise geolocation information, and we ask that you not submit it. Do not send government ID numbers, bank details or card numbers in messages, posts or reviews.

3. How We Use Your Information

  1. To create and secure your account, authenticate you, and give you access to the courses, community, calls and Trainer Hub features your account includes.
  2. To take and process payments, manage subscriptions, issue refunds, apply our refund policy, and respond to billing disputes.
  3. To run the Trainer Hub: show trainer profiles, match bird owners with trainers, deliver messages, process bookings and packages, pay trainers, and publish reviews.
  4. To deliver, host, and improve our training content, and to keep your lesson progress in sync across devices.
  5. To run the community, moderate content, and enforce our community rules and Terms of Use.
  6. To operate live group calls, Q&A sessions, and one on one bookings, including reminders and follow ups.
  7. To pay trainers and affiliates, keep earnings records, and meet tax reporting duties.
  8. To power AI assisted features, such as answering training questions using our own training material. Your inputs are sent to an AI provider to generate a response; we do not authorize those providers to train their public models on your inputs.
  9. To send you service messages you cannot opt out of while you hold an account, such as receipts, booking confirmations, new message alerts, approval notices, renewal notices, password resets, and important changes to these policies.
  10. To send marketing emails about our products, when you have subscribed, purchased, or checked the optional box to receive Beak School news, until you unsubscribe.
  11. To measure and improve marketing, including understanding which pages and ads lead to sign ups.
  12. To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, account sharing, payments taken off the platform, chargeback fraud, and security incidents.
  13. To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with similar law, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (account, purchases, bookings, payouts, access to content, support); your consent (marketing emails where consent is required, non essential cookies, optional community sharing); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement, analytics, operating a public trainer directory, defending claims); and compliance with a legal obligation (tax records, responding to lawful requests). Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

4. Payments and Payouts

Card payments are processed by Stripe, and PayPal payments are processed by PayPal. Your full card or bank details are collected and handled directly by those processors under their own privacy policies, not by us. We receive only the information we need to fulfil your order and support your account, such as the amount, currency, status, card brand, last four digits, and the billing name and email you provided.

Trainers are paid through Stripe Connect or PayPal. If you connect Stripe, Stripe collects the identity, bank and tax details it requires directly from you under its own privacy policy, and tells us only whether your account can receive payouts. If you connect PayPal, we store the PayPal account email you give us so we can send your payouts.

We retain purchase, payout, refund, and dispute records as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention purposes even after you close your account. When a payment dispute is opened, we may provide the payment network or processor with evidence about your account, including purchase and booking records, access and usage logs, messages about the booking, and correspondence with us, in order to respond to that dispute.

5. The Trainer Hub and Directory

Public directory listings. Our trainer directory may include trainers and training businesses who have not yet joined Beak School. For these listings we publish only business information that was already publicly available, such as a name or business name, city and state or country, whether they offer virtual sessions, publicly listed credentials, and specialties. We never publish a street address, and we never publish personal email addresses or phone numbers from these sources. Listings that have not been claimed are labeled "Not on Beak School yet", and credentials are labeled "Self reported" unless we have checked them. Beak School does not hold or grant any third party credential shown on a trainer's profile.

Claiming, correcting or removing a listing. If you are listed, you can claim your listing for free, correct it, or ask us to remove it at any time using the "Report or remove this profile" link on the listing or by emailing BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com. When we remove a listing at your request, we keep a short suppression record (your name, business name and state) so the listing is not added back.

Trainer profiles. Once a trainer joins, the information they add to their profile is public, including their photo, bio, offers, prices and reviews. Trainers choose what to add and can edit it at any time.

What trainers see about bird owners. When you message a trainer, ask a trainer to join, or book a session or package, the trainer receives the information needed to help you: your name, the details and intake answers you provide, your booking times, and your messages. We do not give trainers your card details. Trainers are independent professionals, not employees of Beak School, and they are responsible for how they handle the information you share with them in sessions.

Messages. Messages between bird owners and trainers are stored on our systems so both people can read them. They are private to the people in the conversation, but we may review them when reported, to resolve a booking or payment dispute, to prevent fraud or payments taken off the platform, or to investigate a safety concern or a violation of our terms. Email alerts about new messages do not include the message text.

Reviews. Reviews can only be left after a completed session. Reviews show your first name and initial or display name, your rating and your written review, and are public on the trainer's profile. Trainers may post one public reply. We may hide reviews that break our rules.

Saved trainers and match requests. Trainers you save are visible only to you. Match requests and "Ask them to join" requests are visible only to Beak School. When you ask an unlisted trainer to join, we may tell that trainer that a bird owner asked for them, but we do not share your name or email with them unless you later contact or book them.

Video sessions. One on one sessions run in our built in video room (Daily or LiveKit) or, if the trainer chooses, on a Zoom or Google Meet link the trainer provides. Those services process your name, video and audio under their own privacy policies. One on one sessions are not recorded by default; a trainer and client may agree to record a session, and in that case the trainer is responsible for that recording.

6. Live Calls, Q&A Sessions, and Recordings

Our live group calls and Q&A sessions run on a third party video platform (Daily). When you join, that platform processes your name or display name, and your camera and microphone streams if you choose to enable them. You control camera and microphone access through your browser and can join with both turned off.

Live group sessions are commonly recorded. Recordings are focused on the trainer and are added to the member course library so members can watch replays. If you speak, ask a question, or turn your camera on, your voice, likeness, display name, and the content of your question may be captured in that recording and visible to other members. Chat messages sent during a session may also be retained.

Before joining a live session you are asked to accept our live session terms. If you do not want to appear in a recording, keep your camera and microphone off and submit questions in writing. If you appear in a recording and want it reviewed or removed, email BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com and we will review the request, though we may be unable to remove content where doing so would degrade a lesson already delivered to other members.

A recording notice stays on screen for as long as a group session is being recorded.

7. Community and User Generated Content

Content you post to The Flock, including your display name, profile photo, bird profiles, posts, comments, reactions, photos, and videos, is visible to other members of the community by default and, where a page is public, may be visible to anyone with the link. Answers trainers give to member questions may be published on a public answer page only when the person who asked agrees. Please do not post information about yourself or others that you would not want others to see.

We and our moderators can view, moderate, hide, or remove community content and can act on reports. Moderation decisions, reports, and enforcement records are retained so we can apply our rules consistently. Direct messages between members are private to those members, but may be reviewed by us when reported or when we investigate abuse, safety concerns, or a violation of our Terms of Use.

8. Adoption Center

Flock Profiles posted in the Adoption Center are public. They show the bird's details and photos and the caregiver's display name and general location. Do not include your street address or phone number in a Flock Profile. Contact between caregivers and adopters stays on the Site.

9. Affiliate Program

If you join our affiliate program, we keep your referral link, the visits and purchases credited to you, your commission and payout history, your payout details and any required tax form. Referral tracking uses a cookie that lasts up to 180 days. If you buy through an affiliate link, the affiliate sees that a sale happened and the commission earned, but not your name, email or payment details.

10. Email Communications and Your Choices

Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link in every message, and we honor list unsubscribe requests sent by your email client. Unsubscribing stops marketing email but does not stop essential account and transactional email such as receipts, booking confirmations, message alerts, renewal notices, and password resets, which we send for as long as you hold an account. If you no longer want any email from us, ask us to close your account.

We keep a suppression record of addresses that have unsubscribed or hard bounced so we do not email them again. We do not send you email on behalf of unrelated third parties.

11. Service Providers We Share Information With

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, and only as needed to run the Site:

  1. Hosting, database, authentication, and file storage: Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase, and our website hosting and content delivery providers.
  2. Payments, subscriptions and payouts: Stripe (including Stripe Connect) and PayPal.
  3. Transactional and marketing email delivery: Resend.
  4. Live video calls, one on one sessions and recording: Daily and LiveKit.
  5. AI assisted features and our sales chat: our AI model providers, including Google Gemini models accessed through our platform's AI gateway. They process what you type, and transcripts of recorded group sessions, only to answer on our behalf.
  6. Analytics and advertising measurement: Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which we use for analytics and advertising on our pages, and the Meta Conversions API, which sends checkout and purchase events from our server as described in Section 12.
  7. Embedded videos: YouTube in its privacy enhanced mode for some course lessons and for community and quiz videos, and YouTube or Vimeo when a trainer adds an intro video. These players load from those companies and are governed by their privacy policies. We do not send YouTube the address of the lesson page you are on.
  8. Order records: Google Workspace (Google Sheets), which we use to keep our own order and revenue records.

We also share information with trainers and bird owners as described in Section 5, because that is how the Trainer Hub works.

We may also disclose information to our professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, to a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and to authorities or other parties where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, needed to enforce our terms, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Beak School, our members, trainers, birds, or the public.

12. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar tools include local storage and pixels. We group them like this:

  1. Strictly necessary: session and authentication cookies and local storage that keep you signed in, protect against cross site request forgery, and remember your cookie choice. The Site cannot work without these.
  2. Preferences: remembering your display settings, currency, dismissed notices, video position, filters, and drafts you are working on.
  3. Our own measurement: page views, affiliate referral codes, and a random browser identifier that we store and use only ourselves, to see which pages work, to credit affiliates, and to send checkout reminders.
  4. Third party analytics and advertising: this Site uses cookies, Google Analytics, and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for analytics and advertising. They load when a page loads, including checkout and member pages. They help us measure our ads and show our ads to people who may want them. They never receive the name of a course, lesson, product, or video.

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also limit ads from Meta in your Facebook ad settings. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising.

Server events. When you start checkout or make a purchase, we may send that event and its value to Meta from our server (the Meta Conversions API), with a scrambled (hashed) email address and our own random customer number. These events never name the course, lesson, or video you bought or watched, and they use a general checkout address.

Video viewing information. We record which lessons and videos you open so we can save your progress and suggest what to watch next. We do not give information that identifies you as having asked for or watched a specific video to any advertising network, social media company, data broker, or analytics company, and no video play event is ever sent to an advertising platform. We would share it for any other purpose only with your separate written consent, as the Video Privacy Protection Act requires.

We do not respond to legacy Do Not Track browser headers, which have no agreed standard.

13. How Long We Keep Information

  1. Account and profile data: for as long as your account is open, and then deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after you ask us to close it.
  2. Purchase, payout, refund, tax, and dispute records: retained for at least seven years, or longer where tax or accounting law requires it, even after account closure.
  3. Booking records and Trainer Hub messages: retained while either person's account is open and for up to three years after the last booking or message, so we can handle disputes, refunds and chargebacks.
  4. Reviews: retained while the trainer's profile is live. If you close your account, your review stays with your name removed.
  5. Directory listings: retained while the business information remains publicly available, unless the listed person asks us to remove it. Suppression records are kept so a removed listing is not added back.
  6. Community content: retained while your account is open. When your account is deleted we remove or de identify your profile, and we may retain posts in place in an anonymized form where they form part of a public conversation others rely on.
  7. Live call recordings: retained in the course library for as long as the lesson remains part of our catalog.
  8. Email engagement data: retained while you are subscribed, plus a limited period afterwards; suppression records are retained indefinitely so we do not email you again.
  9. Trainer Hub activity and server and security logs: typically retained for up to 12 months.

14. Security

We take security seriously. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as salted hashes, access to member, trainer and billing data is limited to staff who need it, database access is governed by row level security rules, certification documents are kept in private storage that only Beak School staff can open, and card and bank data is handled by our payment processors rather than by us.

No method of transmission or storage over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot warrant absolute security, and you transmit information to us at your own risk. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator as required by applicable law. To report a suspected vulnerability, email BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to remove a directory listing about you, or to stop sending you marketing email.

If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR and UK GDPR), you also have the right to: access your data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing and directory listings; receive a portable copy of data you gave us; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. The order in which trainers appear in search results is explained on the Trainer Hub under "How we sort trainers".

If you are a California resident (CCPA and CPRA), you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose and the categories of recipients; request a copy of that information; request correction; request deletion; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising; limit use of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. Our use of advertising and analytics cookies may be treated as "sharing" for cross context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out through your cookie settings or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, with proof of authorization.

If you live in another United States state with a consumer privacy law (including Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia), you have similar rights to access, correct, delete and get a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line "Privacy Appeal". We will answer your appeal within the time your state's law requires, and if you are not satisfied you may contact your state attorney general.

If you are in Canada (PIPEDA), you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, challenge its accuracy and have it corrected, withdraw consent subject to legal and contractual limits, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you are in Australia, you may request access to and correction of your personal information and complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

16. How to Exercise Your Rights

Email BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us what you want us to do. You can also change most of your account information, trainer profile, community profile, bird profiles, and email preferences yourself inside your account settings. To remove a directory listing, use the removal link on the listing.

We will verify your request by confirming control of the email address on your account or listing, and may ask for additional information if the request concerns sensitive or high risk data. We aim to respond within 30 days, and within 45 days for United States state law requests, with an extension where the law allows and we tell you why. We do not charge a fee for reasonable requests. If we decline a request, we will explain the reason, for example where we must keep billing or payout records to comply with tax law.

17. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the EU, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with additional measures where needed. You can request more information about these safeguards using the contact details above.

18. Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to become a trainer, an affiliate, or to book or pay for a session. If you are 13 or younger, please do not submit any personal information to the Site. If we learn that a child age 13 or younger has created an account or given us personal information, we will delete that information and close the account. A parent or guardian can email BeakSchool@beautyofbirds.com to review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child's information.

19. Links to External Sites

The Site may link to third party websites, including trainers' own websites, products, and social media pages. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, or for information you choose to share with them. Please review each site's own privacy policy before disclosing information.

20. Changes to This Policy and Governing Law

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in app notice where required. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where mandatory local privacy law gives you additional rights that cannot be waived. Dispute resolution and venue follow our Terms of Use.
